Meet Judge Jessica Recksiedler

Judge Jessica decided at the age of 12 she wanted to be a judge. At the time, she was studying the Constitution as part of an American history project and knew law was her passion. As a child who had been on food stamps with limited financial resources, she knew attaining her goal would not be easy. She earned scholarships and worked part time to graduate from Florida State University. She obtained her B.S. in Accounting and subsequently her law degree at Stetson University College of Law. While at Stetson, Judge Jessica was a member of the number one nationally ranked trial team. Also, it was there, she met her husband of 22 years, Jason.

Judge Jessica began her career at the State Attorney’s Office. Afterwards, she joined the firm Killgore, Pearlman as an associate and later joined Thompson, Recksiedler and Evangelo, LLC. As an attorney, Judge Jessica earned her board certification through the Florida Bar and maintains that certification today. As board certified in civil trial, she is recognized by the Florida Bar, as a jury trial expert, proficient in evidence and courtroom procedure, which is peer reviewed by lawyers and judges. Out of the 109,000 lawyers licensed in the State of Florida, Judge Jessica is one of less than approximately 120 women holding this distinction.

Judge Jessica, raised by her mother, a former school teacher and administrator in the public school system for over 39 years in the Eighteenth Judicial Circuit, attended public elementary, middle school and high school in the circuit. She and her husband Jason have continued to reside in the Eighteenth Judicial Circuit for 22 years with their two wonderful daughters, Jaclyn and Julianna. As a family they are involved in their church and enjoy the beach and music.

She also served as the Administrative Judge of Seminole County from 2019-2021 assisting the Chief Judge with the day-to-day operations of court administration, in addition to her judicial duties. Since 2011, on two separate occasions she has been invited to sit as an Associate Judge for the Fifth District Court of Appeals.

Judge Jessica has served as the Seminole County Adult Drug Court Judge for over 11 years. She recognizes the need for community services for those suffering with addictions and mental health issues. During her tenure as Drug court judge, the recidivism rate for participants is lower than the national average in part from her efforts.

In 2020, Judge Jessica was presented with the Distinguished Service Award by the Florida Council of Crime and Delinquency. Additionally, she was recognized as Jurist of the year by the Central Florida Association of Women Lawyers in 2021.
